Shown here is one of my recent designs and installations. a custom designed installation from get to go. It all starts with the Verizon FIOS ONT that supports 4 phone lines, 8 set top cable boxes with whole house DVR and a 37 x 37 MBPS internet. next is the NEC DSX phone system that supports 8 phone numbers and 16 digital phones, 2 door phones and 4 analog phones. next is the 24 port gigabit Ethernet switch mounted on the backside to reduce overall system footprint. high power DD-WRT wireless access points are located on each floor of each building. A Crestron control processor, audio processor and amplifier provides 8 rooms of whole house music. Three camera feeds are DA'ed, modulated and distributed to every TV on the property before they are fed into the Geovision PC based DVR. A 300 pair T110 block provide patching of phone wiring for easy add/changes. One of the PC's at the right act as the Geoviion DVR system/media file server and the second is a web/ftp server. Everything can be controlled by an iTouch, iPhone iPad, Laptop or desktop computer and cameras can be viewed or reviewed across the internet to any iTouch, iPhone, tablet. laptop, netbook or PC. This system is set up like a house for the future their integrating phone, media server, cabling, and house music all into one. I learned at this years CES event that DISH Network introduced and new whole-home DVR system called the Hopper. This bad boy allows you to have full DVR functions in all four rooms and it holds up to 250 hours of HD content. A long time co-worker of mine at DISH explained that the Hopper comes with a unique PrimeTime Anytime feature. This feature allows customers to record prime time programming to on networks: CBS, ABC, NBC, and FOX to get recorded everyday in HD, only during prime time hours. I want to get this whole-home DVR as soon as it’s available.
